“Work of Fiction” releases.

Hey everybody, the game’s finally out.  You can play it here.  I’ll start putting it up on other websites (Newgrounds, Kongregate, etc) soon.

This means that now, it’s time to start working on a new project.  I’ve narrowed it down to two possible games, but I’m not sure which one to start with.  So, it’s time for a really unofficial vote!  Leave me a comment and let me know which you would like to see first:  A prequel to Company of Myself, or an RPG set in an office environment.  I’ve got some awesome ideas for both of them, and I’m pretty confident that they’ll both turn out to be pretty awesome.  It’s just a matter of which one gets made first at this point.

  1. I would love to see a prequel to Company. It’s one of my favorite flash games ever. I don’t have doubts wthat whatever you try it’ll be enjoyable.

  2. I’d love to see a prequel to Company, but… that office RPG sounds pretty good too.

I think I’d rather see a totally new thing first?

  3. Bear in mind, the prequel will NOT just be a new set of levels with the “cloning” mechanic. That ability is based on Jack’s character, and the prequel would be focusing on Kathryn instead. New character, new game mechanics, etc. It’s also worth noting that the general scope for the prequel is larger than that of the office RPG, so it will take longer for me to finish.

  4. I am super interested in both. I don’t know which I’d rather see first.

  5. I enjoyed This is a work of fiction a great deal, aswell as viricide. I finished them both. Great job on the sound and documents, adds a lot of atmosphere which is overlooked as an “Extra Feature” in game developers these days. ( I have some experience working with that actually ) I did not like the company of myself ( just the game, I do enjoy the company of myself ) so my vote should be obvious. Office environment sounds just right for your view on the world. And oh, sollipsism is as much a view as it is a defense mechanism, content != happy .

  6. The RPG that takes place in an office.

By the way, how exactly did this “anonymous internet user” contact you? Via e-mail? In the comment section here? In a forum? In a chat room?

  7. Or wait, did I get the premise wrong and you simply made all of that up?

  8. Lord Pyre

Can’t wait to try Work of Fiction out!

I’d rather see the Company Prequel! I’m horrible at RPG’s. :p

  9. I’d love to see a Company of Myself prequel, but I think I would like to see a new RPG even more…

  10. Polygeist

Congratulations on finishing “Work of Fiction!” I just finished the game. I really enjoyed it. The puzzles were just about the right level of difficulty to be challenging but not impossible. The story premise is also intriguing. I would have loved to see more of a conclusion to the story, though I’m not exactly sure how you could have given the setup. Definitely not bad as far as game stories go. The story was the main draw for me.

I vote for the completion of the CoM prequel. The original has been my favorite game from you, and I can’t wait to see this new segment of the game’s universe!

  11. High-Lord Vin

well the prequel is gona be hard since it will be judged next to CoM (think portal 2) which was effing epic

so yah bear that in mind; but if you are able to do that and even make a better game, I WANT TO PLAY THAT (ow and on a side note, CoM is what made me start wanting to make video games)

  12. my vote goes for the CoM prequel the RPG sounds intrigueing too but im sorry but anything to do with the jack/Kathryn story is just too awsome :)

  13. silent noise

Wow, I can’t wait for another game. Any game, actually. They both sound really awesome, but I think I’m going to have to go with the prequel to Company of Myself, because it had such an epic storyline.

Just so you know, I think that one of the most intriguing things about any of your games in the story lines. They are just so epic and interesting. Thanks for your creativity.

  14. I would love to a prequel to the CoM, however, I would appreciate it if you fixed up some of the bugs in TIAWOF first. =P

  15. That is an extremely epic game. So glad I clicked the link, The game got me questioning everything and I even forgot the title of it after the game as the title made no sense as it was totally realistic exerts for me and really confused me. Great game, great work. It is just so cool, can’t believe someone made a game like that.

    Cheers!

  16. I would personally LOVE to see a prequel to Company, as it was one of the best flash games I’ve ever played in terms of story and game play mechanics, and had fitting music to help set the mood.
If the prequel is going to be anywhere near as awesome as the first then its got my vote.

  17. SBRedFlag

Prequel to Company, please! That is really one of the few flash games that stayed in my mind after I played it. Hopefully you can pull off the same magic again!

  18. Make a prequel to company of myself. I really enjoyed the back story and would like you to go into more depth on it.

  19. I, AcE, would much rather see a prequel to Company, because the story was fantastic.

  20. isnt fix the prequel???

  21. I would love to see a prequel to Company! It’s my favorite game EVER, I play it every once in a while and each time I get tears in my eyes. I’d love to hear Kathryn’s story and how she ended up finding Jack.
What happened to Grief??? I’m excited to play it, it’s a sequel to Company, right?
    Keep up the good work!

  22. Glad you guys dug the sound :)

I’m really stoked for all 3 projects we’ve got projected. Fix is looking killer, office RPG is a great concept, and Grief (takes place after CoM) is another fantastic concept. Can’t wait to make these come to life!
